Water bus in Dubai

Dubai got a long history in water transport. In those days before the existance of United arab emirates, people used to reach dubai in wooden boats. Even after the rapid development goods are still ferried to neighbouring countries like iran in this traditional wooden boat.

Last week after dropping reju in her workplace, me and kids went straight to dubai creek just for spending time in the waterfront . suddenly I noticed that we were close to Al Seef abra station. I went straight to the ticketing office greeted by a kabyan lady. She said that there is a water bus (interior of this boat looks same as a bus so they called water bus ) after 20 minutes. So I took one ticket costing 4 dhs for 2 way journey. The water bus strats from Dubai creek park-al seef - Burdubai. I took the lap between al seef to Bur dubai. The bus is having a seating capacity of 36 fully airconditioned.

The journey from Al seef to Burdubai takes nearly 20 minutes. On our way we can see many traditional buildings, which is considered as the nucleus for the growth of modern dubai. We can also see many conventional abra for ferrying person between deira and burdubai (on the opposite side of creek). Many passengers prefer conventional abra rather than the modern water bus because of fare. The fare is only 1 dhs compared to 4 dhs in the waterbus.
So it is always crowded in this abra compared to water bus

On our journey we come across many traditional cargo boats ferrying articles starting from luxury Benz cars to electronics to you name it all can be carried in this conventional boat

Our water bus finally reached bur dubai station after 20 minutes of journey. We had a short break of 5 minutes before returning to al seef station. we completed the whole journey in 45 minutes. The journey gives you an insight of traditional dubai , and can be enjoyed by elderly persons also as journey is comfortable and safe compared to the abra, which needs some tackticall skill to enter inside
